Gabriele Viviani To Replace Ludovic Tézier In Summer 2025 Production Of Macbeth

There has been a change in the cast of the Savonlinna Opera Festival’s summer 2025 production of Macbeth. Baritone Ludovic Tézier has regrettably been forced to cancel his upcoming performances due to health reasons. Italian baritone Gabriele Viviani will now take on the role of Macbeth. Additionally, the role of Lady Macbeth’s attendant will be performed by Annika Leino instead of Cassandre Berthon.

“In 2022 I fell in love with both the festival and the breathtaking nature of this unique location. However, on my doctor’s orders, I now have to prioritise my health. It has not been an easy decision, and I deeply regret having to cancel my performances this year due to health problems”, says Ludovic Tézier.

“We are saddened by Ludovic Tézier’s illness and wish him strength and a swift recovery. His performance at the 2022 Festival was an unforgettable tour de force, and we hope to welcome him back to Savonlinna in the future, ” says the festival’s Artistic Director Ville Matvejeff.

Gabriele Viviani and Annika Leino will now appear in all performances of Macbeth. The summer 2025 performances will proceed as planned despite the cast changes.
